stick or auto?
I have a 01 twin turbo gt. It puts out 438rwhp and 592ft lbs at the wheels. I plan on buying a long block when the motor goes so I can cut up my boost. My goal is to have one reliable fast as hell street car. I finally carried it to the track last friday. It pulled the front tires in first. it seemed like It was going to be a good pass til I shifted to 3rd, there was nothing and the same for 4th. the stock t45 tranny is shot. I just finished putting a spec 3+ ($489)cluth in the day before. So I have a bad *** clutch if someone makes a descent offer. Anyways, I don't know wether to go with a tko 600 or an auto? Which will be the cheapest route and most reliable once I am pushing about 650rwhp. Any complete kits with driveshafts out there. Also it has to have overdrive cause A true street car drives to the track. Thanks guys
honestly if i were you i'd go auto. poeple say a manual is more fun and all but just think, if you miss a shift with that built up of a motor and blow it up, you won't be too happy about that. and another simple fact about the auto is you won't miss a shift 100% of the time. Down at the strip it will also help with your times, you will be running more consistent times and all. If you'd put a good stall and shift kit in your auto tranny you'd eat up any manual out there. But as i said, alot of people do like the fun factor of a manual, being able to control your shifts the whole way through instead of just 1st and 2nd gear.
You will NOT be dissapointed with the TKO 600. My dad's running it in his Cobra, and he has about the same amount of power you have, and it's the most reliable tranny you can buy.
Plus, if anything ever goes wrong, you can do a rebuild kit on it. Can't do that with an automatic...at least not by yourself. I mean, have you ever seen an automatic tranny cut-away? It's like a damn labrynth in there...sooo many confusing parts. It's easily the most complicated part on any car.

Well cobrastang the thing is with the auto if he just buys a brand new one to handle that power easily he won't ever really need a rebuild kit because there shouldn't be anything that would go wrong with it that he would need to rebuild it, unlike missing a shift in a manual and what not. If I were you I'd just deffinetely go with the safe route and buy the auto so I would know I wouldn't be risking hurting something with all the money you have put in your car.
