Default gear whine

I had 410s installed a while agoand I hear a slight whine mostly in 4th and 5th gear when I let off the gas. Its not really bad though. Will this cause any damage to the rear end at all?

No one cananswer this by reading a posting on a forum--find someone with some experience and have them listen to it. As a rule of thumb lowergears (numerically higher ratios) tend to be a bit noisier than higher gears, they can also make backlash a bit more noticable--however it can bea very subtle difference...

A) You didnt break them in correctly
B) The shop didnt align the shims correctly

so if you did what you were supposed to then take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it cuz its there mistake FRPP's should never whine if there installed correctly and broken in correctly

I've heard Richmond gears are tough, but tend to whine a bit more than most other brands. Nto sure what you have though.

I've also heard that if improperly setup (causing a whine), if you leave it that way, the gear teeth faces will wear a harmonic type of pattern that will make noise even after you correct the setup issue. not sure if there's really anything to that - just passing on what I heard.
