Default Auto rev limiter

I posted this the other day with no respose. So I thought I would try again.Just wondering if the automatic cars have rev limiters. I had mine at 7200 the other day and when I looked down I was kinda surpised I thought they would have a limiter since they red line at 5800.

Yeah, they do.

I raced some toolbag in a 99-04 GT vert that was an auto. How do I know it was an auto? After I shifted to second and stopped racing there (half a car ahead, speed limit was 35... was more of a launch battle ) I heard him banging off the rev limiter for an extended period... anyone with a 5-speed can't really forget to shift, but ifyou have an auto and put it into 1, it's more likely you'll forget it's still there. Why the hell put it in 1 anyway, NO ADVANTAGE over leaving it in drive.
