Default t56

my best friend has a stock 98 gt...his trans just locked up and instead of rebuilding it he wants to put a t56 in it...i tried to tell him he is going to hate it, he doesnt have enough power to need a 6 speed, he will just be shifting like crazy....what do y'all think about his idea? should i try to talk him out of it a little more or just say f*** it and let him do w/e he wants?

Let him do what he wants. The T56 will allow him to just use 3 gears...LOL

IT has nothing to do with power or shifting, in fact the T56 has a higher (numericly lower) first gear than the 5 speed, and the 6th is about the same ratio as 5th in the Stangs. Why does everyone think that just because you have a 6 speed you will be shifting all the time. I almost never used 6th gear when I had a T56 in my car, and I was never "shifting like crazy".
