Default Midpipe Swap

I'm going to swap my catted X for an O/R H and was wondering if this could be a one man job? It seems simple enough since its really only a few bolts, I know the passenger side header bolts are a PITA though.

its not that hard, make sure you get new gasket as they are one time only things. try not to strip the header bolts. also make sure you have plenty of swivel sockets, deep and regular sockets, extentions, beers, swear words and a punching bag

Ok thanks! Would I be able to do this by just putting the front end up on ramps or would I have to jack the whole car up? Also, would I be using 1/2" or 3/8" drives for this so I know which swivel joints I need to buy.

I would recommend jacking the whole car up just because it will give you more room to move around. I recently had to swap out my O/R X for a catted X (stupid Virginia and their stupid visual inspections) and I only jacked up the front. I didn't have any problem at all and it only took me about a half hour, but it was a tight fit trying to scoot around underneath the car when I was hooking up the midpipe to the catback. I'll tell you what, have fun busting your knuckles when you are unbolting the midpipe from the headers!

i'd say if you can get another person to help you out, it makes a huge difference on the install mainly, getting it off isn't bad but when you're fighting gravity it tight spots, it get's tough

I did Duburado's midpipe by myself. It can be done, though it a royal PITA doing it alone. Just bring the rights tools and swear words and your good to go. Beer does help too.

I did mine on a lift with a fully tooled garage and I must say, those passenger side bolts are just queer. I used a 15 or 16mm, something like that, a single u-joint swivel, and a long extension, 3/8 of course, I don't think there's enough room for 1/2". Spray the bolts down with penetrating oil before hand and let it sit for a few minutes.

I'm about to install a Bassani O/R X-pipe and I wanted to know where I can get the gaskets that were mentioned earlier. Would a Ford dealership carry those or do I have to order them from somewhere?
Thanks in advance, sorry to sort-of jack your thread.

I've done it before on my old Mustang, and the passenger side is a royal pain. Penetrating oil and a long breaker bar should help though.

just go down to the dealership for the gaskets, your autoparts store might have them. my friend had a few laying around when i did mine so idk how much they were.
