agreed...DO NOT back down from this. you werent even in the car, you werent driving, you gave him permission to takeyour car 1 place and 1 place only which he was clearly not at. make him pay for every cent, claimnothin on your insurance unless thats what courts decide has to happen (assuming it makes it that far). his insurance company doesnt want to pay any more than they have to...so of course they will tell you they wont cover the other car...they just want to make you semi-happy right now and hope you will budge. have your insurance company talk to his and tell them you will not pay.
tell him cover everything he screwed up or the courts will get involved, and he should know he stands no chance there.

First of all this is hilarious....what cobra says that is, I love how you try to take advantage of this situation then throw in a sympathetic "sucks though" at the end to be nice.
Anyway on a more serious note this is really an unfortunate situation. I have been through something like this before...my friend wrecked my jet ski and he helped pay for most all of it. He is a true friend and I guess if your bud doesnt help you pay for this than you have figured somthing out....he is not your friend and it is his loss. Good luck with all this and I hope it all works out for you withough too many bills leaving your wallet!
