Theoretical top speed with 4.10's (and the 3650 tranny) in 5th gear is 175 MPH at 6015 RPM or so--however you'll run out of horsepower at 140 or so with a stock engine. FWIW, the calculated top speed with the OEM 3.27 gears (this assumes you have the 900 HP or so needed to do it) would be 220 MPH at 6k RPM...Here's the calculated top speeds for various popular rear-end gears--at 6k RPM in 5th (0.62:1 ratio); also shown are the usual ring/pinion # of teeth and actual ratio:[blockquote]
3.27 - 220 MPH - 36/11 = 3.2727:13.55 - 202 MPH - 39/11 = 3.5454:13.73 - 192 MPH - 41/11 = 3.7272:13.90 - 184 MPH - 39/10 = 3.9000:1 (also perhaps43/11 = 3.9090:1)4.10 - 175 MPH - 41/10 = 4.1000:1 [/blockquote]
I have not seen 43/11 3.90s listed anywhere, however I have heard rumors...

I have 4.30's and love them. Really woke the car up and made it a lot more fun to drive. That being said, top speed is affected. My 4th gear (essentially the last usable gear in a race) tops out at 108. I could get taller tires for the track, but as for now, that is good for my setup.
If I ever go F/I, I will probably build the motor to be able to rev higher to see if I could keep the 4.30's.

Does anyone have that "Theoritical Calculations" web site where you plug in tranny info and gear ratio info and it gives you top speed? I lost it and I need to put it back into my favorites.

Thanks for the info - great stuff!

BTW the Motive 3.90s are 43/11, which gives you 3.909. this is what I was referring to above, but my memory about the specific numbers after the decimal was obviously off a bit.

I just had my 4.10's put in and LOVE IT! it pulls alot harder than stock..you top end will be lower but why top it out anyway...its not about how fast your going its about how fast you get to how fast your going (torque ftw!)...to me the only bad part about getting the 4.10's is the gas mileage but it just makes it so much more fun to drive..trust me its worth it..
+1 you dont need to be going fast enough to top your car out on the STREET n e ways. and how offten d you even push your car to 120+? after 100 wats the point of continuing to race, by that time you should have a clear winner lol.

That's a myth. Ratio is calculated by dividing numbers of teeth on each gear. There aren't enough combinations to get a 4.10 and a 4.11. My 3.90s calculate out to something like 3.90824 if I remember right. It's just that Motive likes to call that ratio "3.90" and Richmond calls it "3.91", which is actually more accurate. Who really cares though, it's close enough.
Yeah thats what i thought. . . I put 4.56's in the front and back of my truck . . . Never had any problems. . .

But yeah Sinister knows what he's talking about 4.30's ftmfw!

Not true... you dont necessarily lose traction..my goodyears f1'shook up just fine andi have done 120 somethin (almost 130) in my car with 4.10's, o/r h pipe, and flowmasters...so you dont really lose your top end
You would top out in 4th gear at 110ish, unless you have auto....

Aren't you glad you listened to my advice, and not the people who are afraid of the gear? haha.
