Default Tune and/or possible mods...

I can get a performance tune for about 300. Should I wait until I get more mods? planning on UDP's, nitrous and gears (4.10's cool with a 100 shot?). I would wait but the thing is that I can't afford everything right now. Basically I can get the UDPs right now and the tune. (Plus I kind of need a tune since my check engine light is on from the o/r midpipe I put on. Also, the speedo slightly off with the new tires I put on in the rear.) What do you guy think? I would have to wait until summer when I start working a decent summer job. I figure when its all said and done it will be around 2 to 2.5 grand or more. lol now that I think about it, not even sure if it is worth it...

General rule of thumb, unless you have 2 to 3 grand worth of mods a tune is a waste. It's about that much that your mods start adding up that you would need a tune and affect a/f ratios and decay rate. The only thing I could possibly see being under that would be a MPG tune after a PI swap or PI motor sway while using a stock NPI ECU. After I swaped out my NPI and had it tuned I jumped to 261rwhp and get 27.6 mpg on the freeway. (dyno SCT tune)

But all my mods plus my PI engine was in total about 3 grand. So it still holds true.

Alright, so I suppose I will wait until I get the nitrous and gears.

Why??? Only for the speedo calibration! Nothing else changes if he has a 5spd.

I know someone who does custom SCT tuning relatively cheap. He will work with you until your initial baseline tune is optimal. Then he will send you the other tunes after you have datalogged the initial tune and sent it back so he can make adjustments! Sounds more complicated than it is, but I highly reccomend him. He's good at what he does and is super fast. If you paid say wednesday night at 7pm and told him what tunes you wanted, he will have all three tunes done by 9pm and send them to you via email. You cannot get any better than that! He's on top of his game. He sells new and used tuners as well.
