Plus the fact that your car is an 03 gt.... You still should have what.... under 100k miles on her..... The 96 is 11 years old, she should be just over 100k..... yea. I know a 94 LT1 Camaro that was a daily driver that my buddy bought..... It was bone stock before he did any mods to it..... Put that thing on the dyno and it read 215rwhp and 270 something rwtq........ Drivers race right there!

i have an lt1, stock i was running 13.7's. Bolt ons usually put it under the twelves. WIth bolt ons the lt1's usually dyno around 300 not 215!!!! Stock they dyno around 250. Those cars have a lot of power but if hes a ****ty drive you can beat him, if not you'll lose. good luck.

Yes, a peach of a stock LT1 could be solidly in the high 13's. 13.7 with a stocker is completely believable, and is out of reach of a stock 4.6.

Most stock LT1s do not run 13.7 though, especially now that they are aging. The (What appear to be) stock-ish LT1s I see at the track are typically in the mid 14 range.

And yes, they will respond better to bolt ons than our suffocated 2V's. But for the sake of discussion, we can only talk about stock vs. stock. There are too many unknowns and what-ifs if you start talking about "Bolt-on" vs "Bolt-on" on hypothetical cars.

Yup. I have no doubt an occassional auto GT could jump in on the fun too...just a slight edge would be given up to the LT.

well bolt ons vs bolt ons, the 2v does not respond well to bolt ons and the lt1 does, so that it a legitamite arguement that the lt1 bolt on for bolt on with be faster, is simple math here.

Guess I will chime in on this....

The LT1s biggest hinderance is the stock manifolds.....You change these out and you have a great starting platform. All your bolt ons feel like money well spent.4.6s run with a GOOD to GREAT flowing manifolds so bolt ons do not have much "effect" like the LT1s.

Now to the race......If it is an auto...you should take him (highway gears and slush box KILL the LT1). If it is a stick, then it will be close but I think the age of the LT1 will play factor. Buddy of mine has a 1994 Auto LT1 Z28 and just this past weekend we had a run in. Going to Cruisin the Coast (Miss) we merge onto I10. He is on my bumper and we both nail it!!!! I walked himSLOWLY but a walk is a walk. Imagine if we would have went from a dig. He is stock with 150,000+ miles on it.

Food for thought

I couldnt help but join in on this one to settle some rumors....lt1's DO NOT make 300 rwhp

I bought a '97 camaro SS Slp #1218 6-speed car when i turned 18 in '98. at the time my buddy thought he was king shiznit in his 97 saleen s281 vert. we settled it on the street but for fun we went to mustang muscle outside st. louis, mo and hit the dyno...his did 215 at the whels, my SS with 20k on it put 267 to the wheels and 287 rwtq

that being said, i have picked off a few early 90's lt1 z28's on the street with my full bolt on npi '96. but its always on on a dig and we have never run over 80mph or so..

now my 98 T/A put 302 to the wheels and it was a 2.73 auto car....that thing shifted into 3rd at 110 and i never got beat by any stand except a modded cobra on the highway......

i agree with everybody else, race him off the line and wave to him cuz your gone!

Good luck
