Default heater core

my heater core went out a few days ago. i took care of the problem temporarily, but i dont have a heater at the moment. (i'm from texas so it's not really that big of a deal for now) anyways, i wanted to know if anybody had tried to replace their heater core before because i really don't have the money to pay somebody to do it for me. somebody mentioned i might have to remove the dash? just curious if anybody had done this before, and if so, how much of a pain it was. thanks.

havent done it, but ya, you indeed must remove the dash to access the heater core. its basically a pit job because of the dash removal.

If you replace it let us know how it goes. I have to do mine too, not looking forward to it. How did you bypass yours? I took the hose from the waterpump and just connected it direcly to the intake manifold on mine. No heat right now, and its gonna be cold up here soon...

Just be thankful its not a C4 `Vette. On my `87, they basicly built the car around the heater core.[&:]
