Moral Question
tell him to go to 4.30's if he doesnt get on it alot his gas mileage wont drop all that much. 99% of the MPG loss is due to the driver "getting on it" because the car was woken up over the stock gears.Going from 3.27 to 3.73 and being N/A is a waste of money. Go 4.30... 4.10 at the very least. And if he is one of those that is scared by the numbers go 3.90

Lol this isnt for me but thanks guys. I already took the plunge and went with 4.30's. But a friend of mine has 3.73's and 4.30's sitting in his garage. Hes gonna install one and sell the other. And 4.10's are only 200 rpms lower than 4.30's. . . So 4.10's and 4.30's really arent that different. But are 3.73's all that different than stock?

Well i have so much engine stuff done that i couldn't give my honest opinion on MPG with my 4.30's. It is pretty steep and 1st gear us unusable but then again i have heads, cams, manifold, and full bolt ons so idk. Maybe with less power at the motor it would be a little more managable. . . But im still not too happy about how it acts on the highway. I miss how i could take the car up to 140+ on a rare rare occasion but its probably better now that i cant. So idk im not sure if 4.30's was the right choice for my car becuase its a daily driver too. . . but i wanted to really get the most out of my N/A car. . . So i felt like if i went with something like 3.73's id be selling it short and loosing a lot of potential. But with him he just has minor bolt ons and once in a blue moon takes it to the track. Hes like me and like to do the occasional red light sprint.
Mine is a daily driver and I kick myself everyday for only getting 4:10s. I should have atleast got 4:30s. If you want gas mileage then sell your car and buy a honda. Plus gas mileage barely changes. I get the same gas mileage in my built gt with 4:10s as my wife does in her lightly moded gt with stock gears.
Yeah but i used to get mid twenties in mine when i had full bolt ons and stock gears. . . but now forget it! Mid teens at best! But yeah its not too bad and everytime i step on it im glad i have 4.30's. With him im thinking 4.30s might be the way to go. . . . By the way he has a 98 GT coupe 5-speed with a full PI conversion and full exhaust (shorty headers, H pipe, catback) so idk. 4.30's might really wake him up . . . but he also has the stock 2.73 gears so idk. . .
