If you have to choose on of the two gear ratios which would you choose. Your car is your DD. You want a lot of accell. but also need some decent gas mileage These are your only two choices.

 

you answered your own question with the mention of gas mileage. if that phrase is in any equation for your car, chances are you dont really want it lol

 

If you want to maintain any kind of gas mileage 3.73's. Whayt about 3.90's? I never used them so I don't know what kind of gas mileage they get.

 

Being a DD, i'd say 3.73 although I'd hate it, I just can't see going with 4.30's unless it's a weekend warrior

Lol this isnt for me but thanks guys. I already took the plunge and went with 4.30's. But a friend of mine has 3.73's and 4.30's sitting in his garage. Hes gonna install one and sell the other. And 4.10's are only 200 rpms lower than 4.30's. . . So 4.10's and 4.30's really arent that different. But are 3.73's all that different than stock?

 

If I had my way I'd have built the Mustang tranny with a 3.90 first gear,a2.80 second,a 1.70 third,a 1.20 fourth,a 1.00 fifth,and a TADAAA 0.50 sixth.I would leave the 3.27 gears in place or even depending on RPM's go with the 2.73's.
For a DDI wouldn't go higher than 3.73's butIdrive a one hundred mile round trip,six days per week.The gas mileage derease would get into my booze money.
