Some of the people who seriously bash the 2V forget what the car is.
A GT could be had for just over 20K dollars in '98 when the PI GT's came out. When you think about that, a low to mid 14 second quarter mile, in a well peforming all around car is not that bad of a deal.
Sure, when you compared the motor alone to the 346 CI, not 350
LS1, then of course it makes the potential of our cars look weak.
But in 98, there werent very many family cars, small imports, or tuners that were gonna touch a PI GT from teh factory.
This quote from Jim sums it up perfectly. It's been 9 years since our PI motors came out in our cars. That's A LONG time in the automotive industry. Cars are making that much hp all over the place now, and running mid to low 14's is nothing more than a quick family car now.
Hell, even ford is making 263 hp small v6's that are in teh fuzions and lincoln MKZ's, and we can all agree that ford has not been anywher near the top of hp numbers anytime recently.

The 4.6 is aging, albeit very well. THe current 3V versions is a wonderful motor. 281 ci will be around for a few more years, but maybe it will continue to improve. Now, according to recent magazine articles, Ford is currently testing an experimental N/A mod motor (believed to be a 2V) in a strip car. 9.01 in the quarter N/A. Estimates put the motor between 350 and 400 ci. Hope may yet be on the horizon. Imagine swapping in 350 cubes (or more?) of forged fordmotor and adding 9 psi. Now, imagine that with 4V heads.....
