Default Automatic transmission experiences

I want to know how good the trannys are in the mustangs in 96 with the 4r70w auto od! How long will mine hold up? 83k miles now and still shifts ok but sometimes gets confused between 1st and 2nd gears! If ya know what i mean!!!

your 96 has a 4r70w??? Did you swap it in? As for the confusion between 1st and 2nd then you might need to take it to ford and get it flushed if it has not been done before... I have 23k on my 04 GT with a 4r70w and the tranny can sometimes act up but usually it's when it's crappy weather, or if it's been sitting for a while... but other than that I can break it loose in 2nd gear.

No i didnt swap it ini think all 96s have this tranny right? As for the flush im afraid to do a complete flush but i have changed filter and pan fluid.
