What was included in the cam install? Are they going to degree the cams and shave the keyway and set your timing perfect? If so then that takes alot of time and could be why its so high for the install.
Exactly. Find out what you're paying for first.

I paid 1000 for cam AND valvespring install (major PITA the spring install, much more time) and a custom tune on a diablo chip (with dyno time).

1000 for cam install alone is too much. 1200 for P&P alone (without valveguides/springs etc) is a ripoff. 550 for dyno tune if it doesn't include the tuner chip is a ripoff.;

Go someplace else. Arn't you close to Texas Hot Rods???

I want cams but dam.. i'm not paying anyone anywhere close to 1000 to put cams in. Just start reading up on it... do it your self.

From what I here cams in these cars need to be degree'd in to be sure there is no interference..

For $1000 in labor then $600 for cams its not worth it. Your only gaining about 20rwhp. I installed my own cams, and springs it took me a while, because of the springs. But I should have spent the money else where, it wasnt really worth it for me. You should really have a friend help you or do the install yourself. I never degree'd my cams, I just used the stock setting. Ive got about 20k miles on these comp cams, no problems. Even though I know the stock setting is off a bit, I plan on getting adjustable gears soon and doing it. Thats ridiculous all those install prices. Just buy a used supercharger, for that estimated cost. Plus with stage 1 cams it sounds stock, so if your looking for a rough idle go with stage 2. Ive had my car tuned at a place in CT after i installed my cams and it was $100 for an hour. He made me 3 tunes, $550 is horse ****.

I don;t thiunk the VT ones have to be, just the bigger comp ones.

Not sure what all is involved... get DETAILED instructions.

I will be doing mine when I pull the motor for the new shortblock... gonna be fun by I have dad/bro to back me up with 25+ years of experence.

Yeah I was reading a thread on bowling green mustang forums about the comps.. There were 2 guys with similar stories talking about how they had rebuild engines because of this. The tollerances are so off from the factory, even put back stock I hear there is a 50/50 chance of stuff not working out..
