Default Are cams really worth it?

was thinking of getting cams along with 3.73, x-pipe, and a tune this winter to keep up with my bro's vette and my friends 350Z and 335i they all are trapping over 102....im thinking of getting them from VT and was thinking of getting stage 2 but do i have to buy the springs? How much power would i put down to the wheels? some guy had said he put down 285 RWHP with a ****ty tune completely stock other than that is it true?

I think its worth it....For stage II's i believe upping the springs are required anyway....

Maybe if you have a badass N/A grind youll see more power than I did with my stage II blower cams but 285 rwhp on a stock engine?......i dont think so. Probably 250's, maybe 260's with no other mods. Without better intake/exhaust mods, the cams arent allowed to breathe properly.

I dont see that being true, unless his crappy tune included 110 octane race fuel.....

i say 285 with boltons, 300-310 with ported heads....

stock shortblock with no blower in the future, Stage I will do you just fine. Just remember, no mod works wonders by itself. Get things to work cohesively together as a full system and thats where you really see big gains....I learned that the hard way lol

Cams are definitely worth it. I have VT sage 2s with full bolons and a tune and I have 292rwhp. Thats about as good as your gonna get unless you do heads which will up it to about 310rwhp...

you will prolly want new heads cuz your heads dont flow for shiat. that will greatly help out your cams and hp.

and make sure you get atune
