Default looking at buying a 04 or newer gt

hey im looking at buying a 04 gt. Im trading in my 03 celica gts. But I just got a few questions. I've owned all imports and most of my buddies are import guys and I know next to nothing about mustangs. I test drove an RX-8 all i can say is I feel sorry for the saps that buy those cars. A gt wouldbeat that car like nobodies business oops getting off point.

I was getting to the point of S/C the celica but then i asked myself why pay sick amounts of money on a FWD car when I could make a killer stang for less than half the money and have more fun to. RWD FTW. But the handling of the celica was awesome, even with just the stock bilsteins, and after market TSW 18x8 thruxtons with225 40 ZR18 Falken Fk 452s.

I know the stang don't have independent rear suspension. Have any of you done the swap to get independent suspension in the rear?Is the mustang still sloppy in cornerswith just lowering kit? Id prollyrun 18 x 8.5s in the rear and 18x8 in the front with 275s or wider in the rear and 225s in the front.

is there a big difference in handling between a 04 and 05 gt? I ask cause I have friends with imports that I will be auto xing against including a R32 skyline, 1jz tt supra. The supra puts down 230 rwhp easily, and has TEIN adjustable coilovers. Pretty sick car, id buy a right hand drive ecept I need a reliable daily driver, and I do drive in heavy traffic, turning left in a right hand drive in heavy traffic without a passenger to see ahead sucks to say the least.

What about interior? is the 05 more comfortable seats?

What about trannies? is there a better tranny in the 05 or newer gt? I noticed that the 04 has a angled shifter. Im not a fan. Do they make a decent short thro shifter for the 04 stang?

Have any of you figured out a way to disengage the speed governor? I took my celica up to 160mph and damn speeds addicting. What I had on my celica gtsis Weapon R header, TRD short thro, AEM CAI, MWR Street clutch, Piper cams, PFC. Its a great car, but im craving more speed. 4.6 V8 seems like a good starting point for performance, im just worried about the handling department.

Im betting the stang should be able to match or exceeedthe celica. My celica stayed stable at those speeds. Does the mustang tend to feel loose at those speeds?

I took a 93 cavalier to 170 kph and it was scary man. That thing lightened up big time, steering wheel got loose. Somehow I don't think the salesmans going to let me take thegt to speed cut to test it out.

I'm not much of a tech. guy but the 05+ are better than the 99-04, I've driven them both and I personally love the newer mustangs. A 2005 GT can be picked up for around 20k.

idk man its all about personal preference. I had an 06 stang and sold and now i have an 02 gt. I like the interior way better in the new stangs but as far as peerformance the newer GT's may be a little better but nothing HUGE. Again its all about preference. Test drive a new gt and an 03 or 04 and go from there.

I can make 90* turns at 50mph without even thinking about it. Minor upgrades to the suspension and you will kill the rice.
