Quick Question
I have a '03 mustang and I have a quick question about it: It's starting to get cold in New York now, how long does it take to warm up your car in the morning? How long should I warm up my car in the morning?, my car is stock. Also in the Ford Manuel it says not to warm up your car, is this true?
I live in Colorado where temps get to -20 + in the winter. I let it warm up for ten to fifteen usually. Enough time to get some heat going and get the oil circulating.
But now its Colorado cold weather + Hot cams & High compression = never starts in the morning [:@]

from what ive heard, gasoline cars dont need to be warmed up really boyond like 30 seconds when its cold, i only start mine up and let it run when theres a lot of frost on the windows and to warm up those cold leather seats :-P
i know, i hear ya with the leather seats being cold, my car is starting to burn alot of gas, i let it warm up until the temp guage goes up, and it takes about 10 minutes, the gas is starting to kill me, is it really necessary to warm it up until the guage goes up?
my car is auto, and if i dont let it warm up a lil it sounds liek it has cams....ill put it in reverse and itll bog down then up a coupel times liek it has soem big *** cams, pretty badass but annoying, i usually wait liek 2 minutes or so, it still does it but it gets over it in about a block
They tell you not to warm up a car by letting it idle for different reasons.
1) The engine will takea LONG time to warm up with no load on it.
2) At idle, you're not getting cylinder splash and good oil to the top end.
3) Due to #1, you're just wasting gas and polluting needlessly.
You're supposed to let it idle for a few seconds (<30) and then drive it delicately until it warms up. Basically, just don't load it much until thw oil starts to warm up. This usually takes about 7-8 min at nrmal temps and probly about 10 min in winter.
