Pillar guage questions???

Pillar guage questions???
I am trying to install some pillar guages in my 02GT using a Speed Of Sound pillar that hold 2 guages. Iam using an autometer boost guage and an AEM wideband air/fuel guage. Im having a problem with the wideband guage since the wires are so thick. I dont know where to route them because they keep getting pinched behind the pillar? If any of you has had your pillar off you know the pinched piece of the body of the car thats behind there? Do you wanna route the wires to the left of that piece towards the passenger side? or to the left of it? Im just really frustrated with it so i stopped for now. The autometer guages fits in perfectly and the wires are small enough.

RE: Pillar guage questions???
ryan.. i started thinking... does this pillar pod REPLACE the old pillar piece or go over the TOP of it?? If it mounts on the top (like the autometer one does), i had to actually drill holes in the factory piece to route the wires... like, a pretty big hole... this was with my old autometer mechanical gauges..

ORIGINAL: mustang430
i was thinking i might buy a steering column pod and put the wideband there and then put another guage in the pillar.

RE: Pillar guage questions???
Sorry to read you're having some trouble with the AEM gauge wiring. I know quite a few people out there use this same gauge in our pillars, including some local friends of mine. Since I've never personally installed one of them, I'm not familiar with the wiring included.
You should have the 94-03 version of our gauge pillar. Here is a picture of the wiring ina boost/fuel psi install done at our shop. Perhaps the routing shown here might help.
There should be adequate room for the wiring. Try to get the lower (closest to the dash) clip of the pillar to seat first, then the top one.
Should your trouble continue, for whatever reason, please contact us on Monday for further support. I'll put you on the line with my partner, Mike, who is the wiring wizard around here.
Thanks for choosing our product, we'll get you up and running as soon as possible.

RE: Pillar guage questions???
Honestly, without a car in front of me, I don't know the answer to this. Try each way, and dont be afraid to give the pillar cover a little smack to seat the clips down. It can handle it, and sometimes just light pressing will not engage the clips.
