Default Got a winter beater!

So I went to the auction two weeks ago and picked up a 1996 Dodge Stratus 4cyl 5spd (same as plymouth breeze) Super clean one owner car. Manual window and locks just what I was looking for. Has 102kmi and is super clean. Paid $485 after all fees and such. Passed inspection with no additional $$$$ and have put 600 miles no troubles. Car is easily a $2k car. (even though it's aneon motor..lol) I still have my 2000 Chevy Silverado for the snow storms and my Mustang is safely stored for the winter months. Insurance is costing me big at $308 per year for full coverage and I'm getting 27mpg!...woohoo

Driving your mustang in the snow not smart, but be as safe as possible. I went to Lowe's and Home Depot and they sell sand tubes specifically reinforced fabric so nothing leaks into your car for $3.89 per 60# bag. Well worth it. I also put snow tires on my car which EVERYONE who drives in the snow should do. Cost me $108 for the pair of huge 14" rims!

Sweet deal. Don't be too hard on the trans, though. I'm a Chrysler Technician and they're weak.

the 2.7 is a POS. A lady brought her car into my shop last week. She had it towed in because it wouldn't start. She tells us that she went a little over on her oil change. It was only 17,000 miles since the last oil change. Her engine locked up and was quoted $9,000 to fix it. Chrysler/Mitsubishi doesn't offer a complete engine. They offer a shortblock, bare heads, and everything thing else. It's like 30 hours of labor or something. Ha ha...

The car has a 2.0L 4cylinder sohc neon motor. Timing chain appears to be new and not sure on the headgasket, but since it's a 5spd the rpms have been high and therefore creates less detonation thanautos rpms which kills those head gaskets!

No T-tops.... Targa
