the 2.7 is a POS. A lady brought her car into my shop last week. She had it towed in because it wouldn't start. She tells us that she went a little over on her oil change. It was only 17,000 miles since the last oil change. Her engine locked up and was quoted $9,000 to fix it. Chrysler/Mitsubishi doesn't offer a complete engine. They offer a shortblock, bare heads, and everything thing else. It's like 30 hours of labor or something. Ha ha...

Sweet deal. Don't be too hard on the trans, though. I'm a Chrysler Technician and they're weak.

The car has a 2.0L 4cylinder sohc neon motor. Timing chain appears to be new and not sure on the headgasket, but since it's a 5spd the rpms have been high and therefore creates less detonation thanautos rpms which kills those head gaskets!
No T-tops.... Targa

Anyway, I had a 1985.5 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. I bought it with 32,000 miles on it. I drove on it for 67,000 miles without doing any maintenance to it. No oil changes, no nothing. It ran perfect. One day I decided it would be good to maybe do some maintenance so I had the oil changed with Castrol syntec with sythetic blend. Within 150 miles the head blew, and I fried my turbo. There was so much smoke pouring out from my exhaust that you literally couldn't see anything behind me for about a mile. It was like smoke screen. When the car finally died I got out and looked behind me and that cloud was just lingering in the street as far as I could see. Never saw anything like it.
Moral of the story is, if your not going to maintain your car, don't bother doing it after neglecting it so long. The damage is already done and your better off just letting it go till it breaks. Unbelievable. Who would've thought that actually doing the maintenance was the cars downfall!

Want to laugh at something really dumb. About 10 years ago my knowledge of cars was very limited.
