IRS

I beat the hell out of my IRS. Wore out stock bushings, FRPP diff brace. That's it. 1.7-1.8 60fts for 6 months, and a couple of 1.6 60fts, then she snapped like a bitch.
The wheel hop was horrible on street tires, but never not once did it hop on D/R's on slicks. Just put some good tires on it, and don't try to launch off the limiter (alot) and the IRS is a freaking blast. It is so much smoother, and makes driving comfortable.

A good set of sticky tires and it won't hop. I will never do a solid swap in my car. Everyone rags on the IRS for being terrible... from the factory, maybe. Its only mediocre at best. Add a couple of little things that I mentioned, and its performs very well.
Oh, and here are the bushings that you will really benefit from. And they are cheaper than MM's.

I love my IRS, I wouldnt have it any other way. Very smooth ride, and still performs at the track. The hop like some have said is what kills them. If the cobra your looking at doesnt have a Billetflow IRS brace... order it. Its only $150 and its the best insurance you can buy for not busting it out.

procharged, 4.10's, hard shifts an DR's and i never experienced driveline failure in my 99 cobra. IRS guru's will tell you its not the power but the wheel hop that will destroy ashaft. the bushing upgrades above reduce this wheel hop (and the subframe bushings can fix the 12mm/14mm bolt problem found in some IRS units) and can helpreduce the chance of failure. overall if ur not afraid to get on it with enough sensibility to get off it when it starts to hop,go for the cobra (i'd say an 01 because ofmore shaft splines).
