Default New Guy, Have Question about mustangs

First of all I am new here, Yes I drive a Camaro but I am going to ask for no bashing me about it. I am a well known member on LS1.com and I am also one of the few on there that actually likes mustangs and defend them on there.

Right now I am on my 2nd Camaro but I am considering to getting an 99-04 GT M5. The reason why I want to change is becasue I know the mustangs are tougher and have a 8.8 inch rear which is much stronger that our GM rears. But yea mustangs are slower stock.

My question is what can I expect from a 99-04 GT with the 5 speed with 4.10 gears, intake, exhuast, headers, throttle body, cam and tune? Maybe some spacers here and there and if there is any recommended mods I should get with it.

Thank you

You would at least be able to hang with a stock ls car with those mods. A lot of mustang owners get discouraged because the ls cars will beat them pretty bad stock for stock but you have to remember the mustang has 70 less cubic inchs than the ls. With that said, the mustang holds it's own against them considering.

mustang with full bolt-ons n gears will get you low 13s with some drag radials. you add a good susp and weight reduct and your in the 12s.

if you have the money and your looking to keep up with your ls1 buddies...just get a blower.

Well I am a guy that likes to be on all motor.
My goal is to be in the mid 12s or faster. So I am guessing the 2V motors dont respond well to being cammed.

With bot-ons, gears, cams, drag radials, and a little suspension work, you have an easy 12 second driver that would be completely driveable on the streets, not much different than stock.

Plus, working on the stang will probably be a little easier than working on an F-body, and, you will look 10 times better!

O and another thing. Don't try the blower + nitrous thing unless you have a built motor. When my bottom end was stock Ihad a P-1 Procharger @ 10 lbs of boost, longtubes, o/r x and flows and 4.30 gears with some drag radials. It took an ls car with 150 shot just to hang with me. The blower would be a great choice if your friends have modded ls cars. It did **** me off though that I had to have the blower just to hang with a car with nothing but some tires and a little gas.

The 2vs do respond well to cams. It's just like any other car, you have to put a good cam in it. I picked up 80 rwhp from cams and heads. I had a supercharger too though so a n/a car wouldn't pick up that much but you'd still pick up some good numbers.
