I would not recommend running 11 psi w/ stock motor and or w/ out aftercooler or intercooler. The basic rule of thumb is 6-7% gain in HP for 1 PSI. So a typical 8 pound setup will return approximately 56% increase in HP. I know of guys with 10 psi w/out intercooler but again it is all with the tuning.

How does that pipe create more boost?
It does not create more boost, just allows the air to flow more freely in to the blower! Vortech stock pipe is very restrictive!

Its like how an intercooler causes you to have less boost. The power pipe just free's up boost. The same way headers and exhaust works.

do power pipes really help alot with a vortech? i want to get around 11 psi. i also have a 3.48 pulley. i am n/i.
What size pulley comes stock? I haven't measured mine. And also, what is the average gain by adding a power pipe and/or smaller pulley?

Sorry for the second post, but I forgot to ask. What are all the advantages/disadvantages to getting an intercooler?

You can find the pulley size on your pulley. It should be stamped or inked on there, usually on the back side (away from the blower). Mine says the size in white lettering

A intercooler cools the intake boost tempeature, letting you run more timing without detonation (and the same octane fuel).
