Default Tranny Syncro question

Hey guys, Happy New Year!

I own a 02' GTwhich hasthe t3650 tranny. I wasin the process of selling thevehicleuntil my third gear syncro went out. I'm pretty sure now its a syncro, but since I need to replace it I'll hold onto the car a little longer. My question is, could I installed new syncros? I'm pretty knowledgeable with engines (rebuilding, etc.)and most drive train (clutches, etc)but nothing about tranny syncros, Inever occured this problem until now. Do the syncros float within the tranny? Is everything pressed in? Could someone be able to fix this repair without sending it to a trans shop?

If I'm able to change out the syncros does Ford sell the syncros? Where could I buy them? Thanks Kenneth K.

I don't recomend doing it yourself. Put it this way. It's one of those things where if you have to ask how to do it, I wouldn't try it yourself the first time. Let someone teach you. First time I did it I was in a class. It's not bad now, but I'd be lost as **** if I did it myself the first time.

if you have a manual to show you how to disassemble and where everything goes when you go to reinstall everything in the case, its not much more than pressing gears and bearings on a shaft.

I wouldn't try it unless you have the money to replace it if you **** it up.

Moneys the problem at the moment (holidays just past) so spending over a grand cant fly just yet. That why I was considering replacing the syncros myself. Yes, if I try it andsomething does go wrong i'll surely buy one. But are the syncros floating? If the problem is easy to fix but just time consuming thats fine. Where can I buy some syncros at?
