Start your car and lift a battery cable, if it dies it might be your alt. Have someone watch your dash while you flex the throttle. Does it light?
But since you say it only happens when you floor it, it may bea ground problem somewhere in your harness. You'll need a tech to find it. I had a Ranger that crapped out when I hit a bump from time to time. The local shade tree guy couldn't find it and I wound up paying a dealer a nice sum.

test it. put an multimeter on it and read the voltage its putting out.... if the car is off the battery should have over 12 volts. it needs over 11.8 volts to start so im told. when the car is running it should be pushing over 13 volts. it normally will have around 13-14.5... then rev the motor and see if that changes any in voltage for the better or worse... also see if the alternator is loosing charge as in with the car running the volts dropping slowly (this is best to see with a digital multimeter). then check and see if the battery is losing charge when the car is off and nothing is drawing power. check your belt to make sure it is tight because if there is no tension on the pulley im told the alternator will not charge the battery. it sounds like your alternator is starting to go though since it isnt charging well under a load. but test it before you replace it and thats not the problem.

sounds like your voltage regulator is crapping out. It's internal on your alternator so time to get a new alternator.

thanks alot for the information guys... im going to try that out in about 10 minutes. my dad told me he thought it was the alternator but i figured id get your guys thoughts too.

when i first got my system the subs kept cutting out b/c the alternator couldnt feed it fast enough ( even with a cap) so i tried to get it beefed up but no 1 will touch it? they say if they make it stronger it runs a risk of runing all the electronics in the car? anyone know where to get a deal on a stronger one? thanks again
