it doesnt matter anyway the adjusters are going to ask you which police dept. took the report and they are going to try to get a copy of that report and when they find out that the accident happened a year ago they will probably drop you as a client and report you that you tried to commit insurance fraud. i know because i see it almost everyday i work as a police officer and there have been many occassions where insurance companies called me dept and tried to get accident reports but when we tell them that the accident never happened they turn around and file charges on the client. suck it up and fix the damages yourself or just tell them the truth.
I think i would ask a mod to delete this thread, and I would call the insurance company back and tell them you are just going to fix it becuase it will be cheaper than the deductible.
You can file a claim up to a year later I believe (might vary from state to state and might even be longer depending on the ins co). Call your agent and let them know what's going on, just ask about filing a claim for an accident that long ago. Technically anything with damages over 500 needs a police report. At least here in IL.
