question about claim.
i had an accident last winter. my car went off the road and hit tree branches and left some marks and a crack bumper.
i called geico this morning and filed a claim that i had an accident this morning.
i will have to bring my car to their adjuster tomorrow.
does it matter if the accident was from last winter?
thanks,

I guess what they don't know can't hurt them. I think that you are suppose to claim within so many days, but they won't know when it was because there was no other car involved.
Are you claiming the damages from last winters accident are from the one you just had or are youjust SAYINGyou got into the accident today, but really you didn't have another one?

i figured it will cost more than 500 to fix.
can they tell from looking at it?
seems to me it could be possible to tell an old scratch from one that just happened...dirt, oxidization, fading, etc of the actual scratch. how much to fix on your own? I'd look into that first. you never know w hat they'll do to your rates once they pay your claim.
Insurance fraud is a serious thing. I'm pretty sure he is going to be able to tell how old the damage is. These adjusters are trained to look for anything that the Insurance Company doesn't have to pay for. Good Luck! Get some powdered soap for your prison stay. It takes longer to clean up in the shower
Why didn’t you claim it when the accident happened?

I've always heard that "soap on a rope" was your best bet, 'cause you don't have to bend over to pick it up... Posting on a public forum that "I just committed insurance fraud" was probably not the wisest decision ever made either...
If it was an accident on a public road, they will appraise the car but it's likely they won't go any further without an accident report with the police - and then you are talking about possible points on your insurance. So not only are you looking at insurance fraud, (it's fraud if you stretched the truth by 12 months, even if it really happened), but you are looking at possibly filing a false police report.
My advice, don't scam the insurance company 1 year later.
