i recommend springs and shocks for 2 reasons: Performance in the handing and for looks.

How far off would the tune be if I bought a throttle body and plenum and put them on?

It shouldn't be off enough to matter. I'd eventually try to get around to that tune, if you are going to be spray it regularly. It's not mandatory, but a great idea.
