What the hell is wrong with you guys???

There is no way, no how, in any way that he ran an 11.90 with nothing more than full exhaust/lid/stall.

Seriously guys, 11.90s? what was his 60', in the 1.40s?

He MIGHT run mid/high 11s on the juice if his launch is good... maybe.

edit: I have a timeslip, and maybe a vid somewhere, of me and my buddy racing his 00 LS1. Same mods minus the stall, and it was on nitto drag radials (car refused to spin anyway). He was a full .7 seconds behind me... and that wasn't even close to my fastest run that day.

Mid 12s, sure no problem, even lower 12s with a great launch... but 11.90s?
lol.... I will swear that I have seen a lid/full exhaust/ geared LS1 z28 go 12.4's all day long in 90+ degree heat. I believe it is possible for it to run 11.99 with said mods, it would be the worlds best run but it could be done. Now 11.9s also sound an awful lot like a cam only car's et.

I believe it is possible. Those auto cars are animals with torque converters. With a 125 shot he will run low to mid 11's.

That was a typo, my friends car did not have gears but it did have a 4,000 stahl.

Lets get this straight, just so we are clear.

A LS1 automatic car, with a set of LTs, a Y pipe (didn't mention that but lets say it has it) catback, lid, and a stall is going 11.90s on mickey thompson drag radials? So a (at best) 350 WHP car with no suspension mods is going 11.90s on d/rs???

I don't see why any of you even own a mustang the way you worship LS1s. Apparently every single LS1 sold/owned in missouri/IL/KS has the GM "midwest slower" mod or something.

I dont worship LS1's having said that I wont argue with their performance. It is not impossible for someone to run that in an LS1 with said mods. Like I stated above it would be a perfect run, but it is possible. 2000gt4.6 I have seen my friends LS1 consistently run 12.4s on 90+ degree days, so IMO its not impossible for that car to run said time, highly unlikely, but it is still possible.

Thats a very arrogant thing to say, The performance of an LS1 car goes hand in hand with their tune. Ask any LSx guy and they will tell you that the tune will make or break those cars.

Bull****. A tune does not make up a second or more in your quarter mile run.. and the guy mentioned nothing about a tune.

Now that he says it has the "highway gear" which means the 2.73, its completely and totally impossible. This makes the car identical to my friends, except for the stall, and its not going from a 13.30 car to a 11.90 car because of weather and a stall.

Seriously folks... your talking about a freaking exhaust/stalled LS1 running high 11s on drag radials? Do you realise what I do to bolton only LS1 cars, regardless of stall OR transmission OR gear? I MIGHT make a 11.90 pass with a 1.65 60' time.

The last race at the track we had, my bud jumped me by at least .2 or .3 on the reaction time, and I still ran him down before half track and blew his doors off. On the street, I could go from a roll on him (even in his sweet spot) and give him a second or two before going WOT and still pass him up.

No doubt the LS1 performs strongly, and even better with a few simple mods, but there is no way its going 11.90s in a full weight/boltons only/stalled/2.73 geared car with a slushbox.

Also, forget air temperatures unless it is in the EXTREME with a n/a car. The FI cars can loose 4-5+ MPH on a hot day, but a n/a car is not going to perform THAT much worse... certianly not going from a 12.40 to a 11.90. Do you realise the amount of power (or better 60') it takes to go from a 12.40 to 11.90? Its not like going from a 13.00 to a 12.50.

Edit: Here's the vid of his vs my car. At this time, I beileve he was fairly stock (lid, mufflers maybe). Went about .3 faster with the LT/Y/catback.

Edit2: the best part? look at the comments section of that vid lol... guy with more boltons AND slicks talking about running 12.50s in his WS6 LS1 car.

for what its worth, my friend's hardtop formula with a 3500 stall, full exhaust, 3.73'sand lid went 12.02@ 114ish.... what is your friend's gearing? I dont see it as out of the question, but it would be one hell of a run!.... odds are if hes on the stock 2.73gearing he might have given it a little shot of the juice
EDIT: saw he has "highway gears"... so yeah he has been hittin the bottle

other friend's forumula with full exhaust, 4000 stall, V2 cam, and a 100 shot went 10.88 @ 12x mph.

I'd have to say that he might just have gave a small hit of the juice! His mods just dont seem like they equal 11.90! He must have installed the "one hell of a driver" mod right before the run!
