I saw in a Thread last week (was atleast 2 pages long) and someone said they got a Ford Explorer Diff. used off of Ebay and the Rebuild kit and some axles.... I was just wondering what YEAR Ford Explorer would work? I didnt Save that Thread and ive searched for atleast an hour.

i believe all explorers had the 31 spline 8.8 axle, which is the one you would want. Some rangers had the 28 spline 8.8, and only the newer FX4 Level 2 Rangers had the 31 spline 8.8.

 

It's the unit FRPP offers, it's actually the one I use!! Inexpensive and rebuildable, get the one with carbon fiber clutches

As long as it's an 8.8 and 31 spline, it will be fine.

I am using one with 31 spline Moser axles, and have been very pleased

 

If i get the Explorer Diff (31 spline) i can just get the Rebuild kit for it right?

Ford Explorer Diff- FREE
Moser Axles- 200-240 ish
Gears-200 ish
