Default Engine Coolant?

Just a quick question, a new light popped on in the dash all the way on the far right.
It was the engie coolant light, and i've never encountered this before on either of my mustangs...sorry if it's a n00b question. [8D]

. . .But can you just buy some more and add it in or is there more too it? Like emptying out the old stuff etc . . .

Thanks guys.

Yeah and it's not consistent.
Sometimes it will come on when i start the car, sometimes in the middle of driving, and sometimes not at all.

I had the same problem, sometimes if the plug gets (rain/car wash) wet it'll light up. The plug is right below where you fill coolant, pull plug and dry. Or you can just unplug it and it'll not be a problem!

usually it lights up when it gets wet. just check your coolant level just incase. if its fine then dont worry about it and just dry off the plug. if u need more then just add morecoolant, make sure the plug is dry still and ur set.

Ford (and almost everyone else) recommend a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water, but you shouldn't have to worry about draining the old coolant unless it looks real crappy (if it's brown and/or has chunks floating in it). some coolant is already 50/50 mixed, i wouldn't bother with that stuff cause a gallon costs almost the same as the regular coolant that's not already diluted (and i'm not sure if it can be used with the regular "green" stuff) and you get twice as much of a 50/50 mix with straight coolant after you dilute it. i just picked up some Prestone green coolant and mixed it with distilled water (got it by the gallon at the grocery store), but you might be able to just use tap water. or just get the Motorcraft stuff, either one will work.
