Default Have u ever snapped an axle?

Have u ever snapped an axle? What happens when it snaps? does the traction lock send all the torque to the other axle causeing the car to go in one direction and possibly crash?

It snaps and you don't drive it anymore.

Huh thats good news, i suppose. a friend told me not to drag race my stang cos if i snapped an axle i would be thrown into the barrier!

I imagine if someone was using a spool instead of a diff then they might crash, what about an upraded locker though!

I snapped one. It's just like the car goes in neutral. It will not even spin the other wheel. But it can be dangerous, if the axle/wheel/tire tries to come out the axle tubes.

Well if you're going to snap an axle, it'll be on a launch. You won't be moving much. I saw a Mach snap an axle at the track. He was building up to an awesome launch, then dropped the clutch at what must have been 5 grand, made a horrible snapping noise, and rolled forward a bit.

And an upgraded locker will just prevent you from breaking your differential. Your rear end is only as strong as it's weakest part. How much power are you running and what kind of tires?

Oh im pretty much stock just reasearching b4 spending what little $ i have. my friend said for that reason i shoulddrag racesomething cheaper and in poorer condition than my stang. he hates fords and suggested puting a carbed 350 sbc in an cheaper car. after looking thru the summit catalogue a 350 does seem cheaper to build some big power when compared to our 4.6

A wise investment for all who race.

I've never snapped one, I tried to fix a problem before it happened.
