Default 9's

I was mulling around in my head the past few days, and just figured I'd ask to see what you guys think.

With a 99-04 GT, approx. how much power will it take to run 9.99 or better in the 1/4? No crazy suspension work, just 4 cyl front springs, stock GT rears, 90/10 front struts, 50/50 rear shocks, full length sub frames, upper and lower control arms, and both sway bars removed. For weight reduction just a rear seat delete, two front racing seats, and the spare and jack removed. But come to think of it, the roll cage and harness would probably make up for all that.

So figure the above mentioned and an awesome set of slicks, what kind of power are we talking to hit a high 9? I'm not looking for a list of mods needed, just a power number. Figure a good driver.

Basically I want to see if I can make this kind of power with just nitrous, or if I should supercharge it and run the spray. Money isn't an option, I'm just speculating.

you will need a completely new motor. ur best bet is probably fully forged low compression, and boosted. boltons and nitrous alone will get you into the 12s with DR's, maybe a high 11 if ur real good. a full weight mustang would probably need over 600rwhp to hit a 9.99, especially with that limited suspension setup.

Oh, I know I'd need a new motor. I actually thought it'd be more than 600 rwhp. Like in the 800's or something.

With the all nitrous motor I was thinking a high compression forged 4.6 short block, probably the MMR 900, with wild ported heads (I have a friend who works at a machine shop and they do a bunch of custom performance porting work), curstom cams from MPH, and one of those custom intake manifolds with the long runners (the ones where you need a big hood, lol). Basically make as much NA power as possible (like 350rwhp, unfortunately), and then a 300 shot. I kind of like the whole NA idea with the nitrous. But if it's impractical, I will go with a blower and nitrous.

Any other opinions?

i dont know of anybody that is actually making 9s in a 4.6. but blower/nitrous would be your best bet. it also might just be too damn hard without weight reduction

also, ull need new axles and probably a complete new rear, the 8.8 is pretty strong, but i dont think it will stand up to that abuse.

I think MMR had a customer in the 8's with a 2v 4.6.

And I know about the rear end. I know what it would take to make the car withstand certain power, I just want to know how much power I'd need to be in the 9's.

Do a search for a 1/4 mile calculator. Plug in your weight and play with the HP numbers till you get in the nines.

cheapest way:

built 2v, full bolt on's+ (H/C/I), ~250 shot, steep gear's, suspension, and slick's

that should get you there
