Default Lost some power!

I just swapped my off road h-pipe for the stock unit so i can pass smog here in CA, and let me tell you there is a huge difference on the old butt dyno. I forgot how restrictive the stock pipe was until yesterday when I hit WOT for the first time since the swap. I can't believe how much of a difference there was. Probably a loss in the 20-25hp range and my car is so damn quiet now.

probably not on a built and blown car, it probably flows quite a bit less than the offroad H. Say, did it change the tone any? I know it got quiter, but did it have the same tone as before, just quieter? If I go all out with my car, I think I want to quiet down the exhaust so that I get less attention from the popo

Yeah, it wouldn't have made such a big difference if I wasn't blown in the 400hp range. (not anymore LOL probly at 385ish)
Anyways, the tone is still there but it really seems to accelerate and sound a lot smoother. In reality it is so much nicer to drive without the severe volume of an o/r h and borla stingers. I don't have to try to keep my rpms down to avoid unwanted attention any and I don't wake up the whole neighborhood anymore. Its kinda nice except for the obvious loss in power. If anything, I might go to an aftermarket catted h or x down the road, but the o/r is just too much for me at least with my catback.

Sorry bud. I actually bought it off someone on here when I moved back to CA. I just didn't get around to putting it on till a couple of days ago. If you want one, there are tons of people with them just laying around in their garage after the o/r install. Just post a want to buy add in classifieds, I found one on here the same day!

Man a can not believe it made that much difference. Are you saying you like the stock midpipe sound better than the borla.

even on a blower car I doubt the midpipe is worth 20+ WHP.

No, I'm saying the borla was annoyingly loud with an o/r h-pipe. I still have the borla catback just now I've got the stock midpipe back on.

2000GT4.6 I really didn't think it would meake such a difference either, but its definitely noticeable. I'm not gonna do a dyno, cause that would just be a waste of time and money. But adding 4 cats and reducing the pipe diameter could easily make for a 5% loss in power.
