this is enough for me, for a mod that gains no performance increase over a drop in filter and a silencer delete, it sure seems like more of a risk than its worth....ive got a CAI now that was on there when i bought it, but soon i will be switching to a jlt rai or the stock airbox with a k&n drop in
What I am about to write borders on heresy, I am sure the faithful will respond...I am running a K&N drop-in because I got a deal on it at a show in Daytona last Fall--however, when I did my last dyno runs (on Halloweenlast year) we did back-to-back runs with the K&N (nearly new, less than 250 miles) and my "old" OEM Ford filter with over 10k on it.These were both withthe stock airbox and a cut-down snorkel thatstill sticks into the fender 1/2" or so.Guess what? There was literally NO significant difference between the runs--none, nada, zilch, zippo...So, we did a run with no filter (and no airbox)--guess what? There was a very small increase, of less than 1%, across the whole 2300 to 6600 rpm range we tested--a bit less than 3 HP peak.I'm still running the K&N (about 16k miles later), however it's coming out and I'm putting an STP paper filter in in a couple weeks because there is NO power difference and the paper filter filters better...
