I'm pretty sure the duratec engines only started in 05+ focuses (foci?...whats the plural haha)
like stated above, the most powerful engine so far was in the SVT focus which also has a 6speed manual, which adds to the fun factor....

anyways, they most fun mods you can do to those cars are suspension....nothing you do short of a supercharger/turbocharger really nets any power in those engines....but believe me when i say they're probably the best all around corner carving car that Ford has put out in a LONG time....you can literally throw these things around corners

my friend has an SVT focus with the typical catback/header/intake mods, but just about everything in the steeda cataloge for suspension components....and that car is a blast.....
Nope, the 2.3 Duratec was also put in the 03 and 04 ZX3's, but they are very rare. In 05 they were put in the ST's and was in them in 06 and 07 too.

I believe so, well the 2.3 engines anyways. But I believe they are Fords engine, just being put into the Mazdas because I believe Mazdas are built in the U.S.

I don't think the OP is going to be worried about performance if he is complaining about gas prices.

I can't beileve the majority of you (at least the ones not on college that have a real job anyway) would possibly DD your mustang. I have a 3K beater I use for everyday and back and forth, 30+ MPG and you can get in it dirty, don't care if it gets door dings etc etc.

If your looking to save money, swapping to a 4cyl and then trying to mod it is not going to make up for gas costs, and almost any mod that acutally makes it faster is going to reduce MPG. buy a beater and keep the stang for the weekends.

I have a full time job and I'm not in school, but I have 2 Mustangs that guzzle gas and use them both for my DD.
