I just picked up the new ride. Traded the 02 in for an 03 w/ 21.5k miles.

It has Borla catback, an aftermarket midpipe, and a BBK cold air. It's also lowered.

I've noticed that my speedometer is off.It clocks me at about 12-15 miles per hour faster than I'm actually going. At around 70 I'm at 2500 RPMs. The response time on acceleration is immediate.

I'm thinking the gears have been changed. How can I tell what's in there w/o opening up the rear?

I'm sure there are more ways, but this is what I was told to try on my 96.....

1. Jack up... both rear wheels off the ground

2. Place your car in neutral...mark a small dot on the aft end of the drive shaft

3. Have someone turn the tire one revolution while you are under the car watching the dot on the rear of the drive shaft....Count the number of turns it makes

.....use the chart below to determine the gear ratio you have

2-3/4 turns equals 2.73's
3 turns equals 3.08's
3-1/2 turns equals 3.55's
I didn't know what had been changed in mine. I was told to try the above..i did..and a couple of weeks later I ran into the previous owner and he confirmed it! Hope it helps

4.10's for sure same with me. They either have the stock speedo gear in it or have a 3.55 gear in it. You can get the speedo gear off steeda.com I believe. That's where I got mine for the 4.10's.
