If you know how to weld then theres nothing to tell ya there, if ya don't know how then don't do it.
As for how the car should be, if your gonna do it in your driveway, get ramps to lift all four tires off the ground, do not do this with jacks because you want your wheels to be under load. If this is a shop doing it then make sure they get it on a 4 post lift (drive on lift). Make sure the subframe connectors line up to the weld points and that you do not need to bend the subframe to weld. If they do not meet up then don't weld em on and return that subframe or bend the subframe before you weld it. Our unibody's are that weak that the subframes will bend the unibody. Lastly, buy some rustoleum and spray all the welds thuroughly, apply as many layers as you want. If its not a powdercoated subframe you may want to spray the whole sub while your at it.
As far as subframes, I recommend the maximum motorsports full length ones, anything shorter than full length makes no difference. Maximum motorsports spends thousands on D&D to make sure their products work with a mustang, as does griggs. I wouldnt trust any other aftermarket company with my suspension. Oh and if money is not an issue the griggs subframes are the best you can get.

i herd that like 85 percent of the time the subframes need to be bent... And someone told me that u weld one side.. then you heat up the connector with a torch, then with a floor jack jack it up to the frame and weld.
I installed mine by putting front wheels up on ramps and jackstands under rear axle. put subframe connector in place support it by a floor jack. then outline the area you will weld with a marker. take connector down then prep area that you will be welding. put connector back in place support with jack and weld away then apply some spray paint. job done.
