throw out bearing?
Well i bought my mustang a few weeks ago..and since then ive notice a lot of transmission sounds...ive read that some are normal....one that ive been noticing a lot lately is when im slowing down to a stop in first or second it starts to whine..it stops when i push the clutch in..this is the throw out bearing going bad, right? also when im in first and second and let of the gas theres a lot of clanking bank and forth in the tranny...is that normal?
thats normal wear and tear on the tranny. our trannys are built worth a squat. they are rated for 350 fwtq and we are 302 fwtq stock and stupid ford never put enough trans fluid in the trans and then it boiled and caused the gears to warp and get slack in them. the whine in 1st and 2nd are normal too i think. but there you have it.
hmm...i thought the fact that the whining stopped when i pushed in the clutch was a sign of a bad throw out bearing... and u say normal wear and tear...it only has 40k miles
well it is normal wear and tear for 40K miles. i heard that they had problems almost from new. but thats what ive been told by many people that have worked for ford.
