With 5 grand you could definately get a complete used 4 valve.
Ive got a 98 GT and im in the same boat as you. You've got to keep labor in mind though as well if your not planning on putting it in yourself. Labor starts to add up quick with a motor swap.
Do you have a auto or stick??
