Default build or swap motor? help wanted

Looking for some help from you guys I have about $4k to spend on performance and I don’t know what route is best to take. One involves a 4v cobra motor swap (99 cobra motor with @40k miles for about $3500 installed) and the other is opening the engine and working on it. I have a 98gt with about 55k miles on it and it runs well. I was talking with a guy on the phone today and he was saying he was currently building a 98gt motor that would be around 435hp NA and support about 1500hp for about $6500. I don’t want a supercharger yet, this is a toy car that doesn’t come out much, I like the bends and hit the ¼ mile track every once in a while. What are your opinions on what route I should take?
Thanks for your thoughts.

That motor is gonna be worked to hell and back, as well as 4v.

What are your goals? If you'd be happy with ~300rwhp, you can build yours. HEads/Cams/Intake/full bolt-on and there you do. If you want alot more N/A hp than that, then you need to do the 4v thing. IF you are wanting to do S/C eventually, you need to have that in mind while building your engine. What's good for 300-320rwhp N/A, probably isn't gonna be too swell in next year when you throw a S/C on it.

435 na.... Sounds like an LSX motor

With 4k in hand, i would:

PI Swap- $600-1k???(nvr done it so i dont know price)
DIY SC Build for $1500-2k
Rear End $800-1k

This is what i would do... OR, Build ur motor and Spray it

As far as goals for me I want to keep it street able but be able to hit the 10’s at the strip (eventually). What kind of things should I keep in mind if I do get it bored and stroked? And if I can get those kind of numbers (and potential) with $6500 that sounds more intriguing to me then having to deal with a old engine that I have to do something with. What are your thoughts about that? And how much hp do you need to hit 10’s in the ¼?
Thanks again

I think you'll be hard pressed to get into the 10's for $6500, have you thought about the fuel system, suspension, rims/tires, motor, heads, cams, bolt ons, power adder, tuning, etc??? As far as how much hp to get into the 10's. I think I could get my car into the 10's w/ 470+ rwhp, but I already have all the above mentioned work.

im not thinking that i will be in the 10's with the work im talking about right now. ive had the car for a while now and have all boltons, front end suspension, big brake kit in the front, full exhaust (less headers) gears, shift kit and some other goodies i just need some more power before i do theback(suspension, brakes, rear end, etc.). the shop i go to has a dyno so a tune isnt a problem either(i already have the tuner too).theres no question about it, its a work in progress.
but beyond all that i guess @500rwhp would be a good goal, thanks! and what is your opinion about the 2 engine choices i was asking about, or more related help?
thanks
