Default exploder axle swap

anyone ever put any thought into a 96+ exploder rear axle swap? They have 4.10s and 31 splines, are an 8.8 size, plentiful and cheap, rear wheel discs with the 5x4.5 bolt

are they even the right width? and what kind of diff do they have?

If they would fit and had the same trac loc as our 8.8's then that would be a cheap cheap cheap axle upgrade...

Just take the Diff out of one, and rebuild it. That's exactly what I have. WIth Moser axles and 4.10's.

is that why it was easier for you to replace the studs; cuz you have an explorer diff. in there?

I'm going to jack my car up today and give it a couple whacks, I just don't want to f' up the ABS ring though.

If I do f' up though.. I guess it will be time to go hunting for an explorer diff. [8D]

The diff wouldn't have anything to do with the studs. Maybe the aftermarket axles could, but I don't think so.
