Default Brake question

Hey guys, got a question on rear brakes, I just changed mine the other day, and I didn't put the clips on my new pads. They are HPS hawk pads and they are squeeking until i press the pedal hard. Do I need those clips? Also, i didn't put anti-squeel on the back of them, should I do that as well? Thanks!

yes u need to lubricate the backside of the brake pads and the points on the calipers where they touch the pads. u can buy 2 packets of lubricant for like $3. any brake is gonna squeak if u don't use that stuff

Well, partly true.. If I'm not mistaken, those clips are called "anti-rattle," clips.. They help keep the pad firm in the caliper.. The squeaking/squealing you're getting is the semi-metallic pads, which usually make a little noise anyway, on top of them sliding around in the caliper and maybe even to take it further, the lack of lubrication on the back of the pad.. A little goes a long way..

Did you remember to clean off and re-grease the guide pins??

That's what i figured, I saw autozone had the kit with the clips and everything so I'll have to get that and some anti-squeel. Well, at least I'll be quicker this time since I know how to do it now. Thanks guys!!!
