Default How do you launch?

I have been out practicing a little and have been wondering how do you all launch?

I have heard people launching at at 2k,3k and even higher. If I launch at 1500 and nail itall i do is whellspin so I am kinda curious how you all have found your perfect launch.

oh and don't tell me my tires suck because they are 275 pilot sports in the rear. Not a drag radial, but about the best sports tire you can get.

Usually (depends on tires) you can rev to 3k and just feather the clutch as in ease it out giving it more gas at the same time.

Not a drag radial
Thats your problem, buy some m/t you'll think me later, and drop your fron sway bar.

come on feathering the clutch you can make any tire not spin. Driving around on slicks in not really an option.

Pilot's are great sport tires, but those same qualities (stiff sidewall and aggressive tread) can hurt their drag launch capabilities. Try dumpin' the clutch just above idle, without spining, and then nail it.

Traction on the street and traction at the track are two completely different things. Any mustang is a gear change away from frying the factory tires simply pulling away from a stop light.

At the track on street radials, I do what WLG said. I hold the engine speed at about 3500 rpm when I finish staging. Right before the last red light illuminates, I ease the clutch out and feather it to keep the tires from spinning and try to keep the engine speed above 3500 until the clutch is fully engaged, then I mash the pedal to the mat. I get pretty consistent 2.0 short times, but could never get any lower with my stock 3.27 gears.

I would also be interested in hearing how some people get 1.8 short times on street radials, because I just can't do it.

Your rear end is bouncing way too much. What shock is back there?
