Default Difference between a 10 spline and 26 spline

Car is a 03 cobra. Needs a clutch and i'm ready to buy one. I wonder if anybody knows the difference between a 10 spline or a 26 spline here in the forums. Anybody please shed some information on me.

Is there some kind of difference that you can feel?

its the amount of 'teeth' on the input shaft of the transmission. you cant really FEEL a difference, but the reason people upgrade to a 26 spline clutch/input shaft is because there is more contact area and more protection when you have a high horse/tq car. 03's cobra with full bolt ons can easily snap the stock 10spline I-S so yea thats y they upgrade. If you have a 10 spline input shaft in your tranny (which im sure you do) you cannot use a 26 spline clutch.

You won't notice any difference while driving if thats what you mean. Its just the number of splines on your transmission input shaft. The 26 spline is said to handle a little more abuse than the stock 10 spline. Unless you are running like 500rwhp, dumping the clutch at like 5k, and running slicks, I wouldn't worry about a 26 spline upgrade.

i'm all stock, but plan on doing mid pipe, cat back, and intake.

so i guess sticking with the 10 spline is good for now.

just curious, if im to upgrade to a 26 spline clutch, i would need to buy a 26 spline Input shaft, right?
Where can the input spline be purchased?

i saw this on ebay. He claims the 04 cobra 10 spline input shaft is stronger than the 03 one? any knowledge on that? thanks

yes youll need a 26 spline I-S. and i dont see how the shaft would be stronger in 04 then in 03. maybe its an aftermarket 'hardened' 10 spline

Yes, if you want to go 26 spline, you would have to upgrade the clutch and input shaft to 26 spline. You cannot slide a 26 spline clutch disc over a 10 spline input shaft.
