it seems everyone is saying to go with shorter (fox body) struts, but no one has done it.

looks like the one person that did do it......it doesnt work?

wtf...

that sucks brother man.....see if you can sell them to the fox-body guys to atleast get some kind of money back, to put towards the new ones.

guess i wont be ordering the fox shocks/struts, and just stick with the 99-04's like they are supposed to be.

Cliffyk... Should I use the fox struts on a 1 1/2" drop with my '99?
Or should those shocks be used form 2" or more drop?
I like that the fox body struts are cheaper then the newer ones also.

I'll surely be branded a heretic for saying this, however you don't really need the shorter struts until you get to well over 2" drop--that's the motivation behind my saying earlier that "The idea is..."The one thing you do want to avoid on a dropped car is any sort of strut/shock with a "comfort zone" feature (Monroe mostly). They have spongy valving in what would be the normal ride height range on a stock suspension and when used on a lowered car will act oddly...

have you concidered either 1. did you let the a arm down(spring uncompress) between taking the old strut off, and trying to put the new one on? and did you attempt to compress the spring at all to get the strut on?

i ask because, my 5.0, i put "lower" front springs( 4cyl, debating on puttin them onto my new edge), and strange 10ways up front on it, and had to compress the spring to get the strut to bolt back up, and they were for a fox...

when i just swapped struts(not on mine, on another) i didnt lower the a arm any and it bolted up just fine...

just a thought...

I have C-springs but I have new edge Strange shocks on the way for the rear. The car is only maybe 3/4"-1" lower then stock in the back, so should I be good?
I have the fox 4cyl fronts and roush rears, which is close to what you have drop wise, and my strange 10 ways are fine (new edge style strange).

I am not a believer in ordering the fox shocks/struts, as I have had no bottoming issues and they seem to work fine....

I know first hand that fox body shocks and struts from Strange Engineering will fit in a stock ride height new edge. I ended up finding a set here for sale that were never used and a few bucks cheaper then ordering them directly from strange. They are a shorter length shock in the compressed position which makes them better I guess for a lowered car I guess, but even at stock ride height mine work fine. The fronts went in without any real issue, the studs up top poked thru the fender up top just enough to engage a few threads and then I just sucked them the rest of the way up with the air ratchet. Been on since september and had no issues other than they are a little louder than the sock ones.....
