Default Valve issue

All right boys and girls I have a problem I need help with. When it is hot out (around 90 or so) or I go WOT, or even half throttle some times, I canhear my valves tapping, it sounds like they are sticking...Im not sure how else to describe it.

Any help would be great,
Matthew

I know its a v-6, but they couldnt help me

Sounds like you may have a problem with knocking or pinging. One way to check if you are a five speed try putting it in fith gear at a fairly low speed and go WOT and see if you hear it then if you do. I would suggest trying running 93 octane through it for a tank or so and see if that makes a difference.

+1 Sounds like it's due to the fuel. 93 should fix it.

I disagree, no v-6 should need premium gas.

Carbon buildup in an engine will cause the valves to rattle sometimes. 93 octane burns hotter and quicker than 87 and will fix the problem a lot of times. The best way to fix it though is to run some strong cleaner through the engine like seafoam to get the carbon buildup out then you should be able to go back to 87 without the rattle.

Thanks for the help guys. I am going to run prob. a half tank of 93 (as the price isto high, and v6 arnt suppose to run 93)in there to see if it will clear up the issue. If that doesnt work then Ill go with the seafoam route. I see foamed the car on the last oil change but Ill do it again when I do the next oil change.

Thanks again guys,
Matthew

I think you got that backwards man. 93 burns slower which allows you to run more advanced timing. Even if 93 gets rid of the ping is is not a fix just a bandaid. After you put regular gas back in it it will ping agian. You need to run a cleaner through it.

Thanks again guys. I will be following your wisdom and running some 93 with cleaner if needed.

Thanks again,
Matthew
