So My NPI needs power. Local has a motor with STAGE 2 SEAN HIGHLAND PORTED & POLISHED HEADS, COMP CAMS and 7000 miles on the motor. Well he had it supercharged and it threw a rod....anyway to tell if the heads or anything is damaged before I buy them?

 

u have to take to a machine shop to get them checked really and if its anything u can see thats bad...well its bad

 

Almost impossible to tell with the naked eye unless there is really obvious damage. Like miller said, you need to have a machine shop look at them to tell for sure.

 

k thanks. I may just buy the cams out of it.... will I be able to tell its ported and that they are comp cams when I look at it? Will there be any logos/part numbers? I know the heads say ford on them...I think they are just stage II stock ported heads, will the be as good as PI heads?

 

They will be better than the PI heads if they really are... Ask him to show you an invoice where he got them P&P'd...
+1 on taking them to a maching shop to get them checked.

 

Take the heads off and go with the owner and get them tested. You could even pay the 30$ for the test. And if alls well give him the money as you guys go pick up the heads from the shop.
