There is a self stick insulation tape available at home depot in the heating and air plumbling section, its about 3 inches wide and in roll form, if you want to keep the heat out that stuff will do the trick. One question, does your cai draw from inside the engine compartment or is it in the fender? This will matter, inside the eng comp and it sucks heated air anyways, in the fender and it will be cool. Hope this makes sense!

People useheader wrapto contain heat, the hotter air is the faster it moves thats why you see it on turbo manifolds. It will do nothing on a CAI.

no it wont do anyting unless you are planning to wrap the inside, it will still obsorb heat, it just wont transfer out of the CAI

my CAI pulls from the fender well, although for all purposes I guess it may be pointless cause if air is being sucked in, especially at WOT then it won't heat much before making it to t/b plenum- even if the cai piping is hot. Not sure?

That is exactly the issue, at even 2000 rpm the air is moving through the intake tube at some2180 ft/min (146 cfm* through a 3-1/2" dia pipe), or about 25 mph. That's quick enough that it's not going to absorb a whole lot of heatpassing througha 24" long tube.It will undoubtedly gain more heat than if the tube were plastic (because the plastic would conduct less heat from the engine compartment through its wall), however the overall gain at any engine speed above idle would likely not be significant in any but the most critical applications.--------------------------* - 146 CFM = 281 in³ / 2 * 2000 rpm/ 1728 in³/ft³ * .90 VE
